Dr. Tommaso Di Ianni is an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences and Radiology & Biomedical Imaging at the University of California, San Francisco. He is the Director of the UCSF Basic Ultrasound Research Program and co-Director of the UCSF Focused Ultrasound in Neuroscience Program.

After receiving a MSc degree in electronic engineering (summa cum laude) from the University of Bologna, Italy, Dr. Di Ianni obtained a PhD in biomedical engineering from the Technical University of Denmark. He then joined the Department of Radiology at Stanford University as a postdoctoral fellow before joining the UCSF faculty in 2023. The Di Ianni lab develops cutting-edge technological innovations for focused ultrasound neurointervention and functional ultrasound imaging. The lab is also interested in elucidating the underlying mechanisms of therapeutic interventions for neuropsychiatric disorders, including focused ultrasound neuromodulation.
